X-treme

X-TREME RULES

1. All drivers, crew members and car owners
are required to be familiar with the general
rules, safety rules and race procedures of Ace
Speedway as found in the Ace Speedway rule
book.
3. All cars must be in the pit area, available for pre
race inspection, no later than 15 minutes before
the posted start time of the first race of the night.
4. Transponder are mandatory
5. NO protests will be accepted in the X-treme car
class.
6. Management claim rule is in effect at all times.
Claim amount is $750 for complete car, less the
driver’s seat, seat belts, fire extinguisher, and fuel
cell if so equipped. If a driver and or car owner
refuses the management claims that driver and or
car owner will be suspended for the remainder of
the racing season.
1. ELIGIBILITY
1-1: All drivers must be at least 16 years of age.
1-2: Drivers may not have any previous stock car
racing experience in a division or class that Ace
Speedway officials determine to be a higher level
division than the Ace Speedway X-treme car division.
Previous racing experience and achievements in any
similar racing division or in any other racing series or
sanctioning bodies will be considered in determining
a driver’s eligibility. Ace Speedway reserves the right
to refuse the entry of any driver.
2. COMPETING MODELS
2-1: 1980 or newer front wheel drive, four cylinder
passenger cars only. No all-wheel drive or all-wheel
steering allowed. No convertibles, station wagons,
vans or pick-up trucks allowed.
2-2: All drivers must have a service manual for the
vehicle model and type being competed in showing
engine, transmission, wheel, weight, and tire
specifications. This manual must be in the possession
of the driver at each race that they compete in and
must be made available to the division inspector if
requested.
3. CAR BODIES
3-1 GENERAL BODY REQUIREMENTS A: Body
must maintain original dimensions, standard as from
the manufacturer. B: Floor pan, trunk floor, front
and rear inner wheel wells must remain stock, and
in stock location. Fabricated floor pans, trunk floor,
front and rear inner wheel wells are not permitted.
C: Interior trim (carpet, headliner, side panels, etc.)
must be removed.
3-2 WINDSHIELD A: All cars must be equipped
with a full front windshield. B: Windshield must
be in stock location. C: Windshield must be clear
polycarbonate glass (Lexan, etc.), minimum 1/8th
inch thick. The polycarbonate glass must be formed
to the same shape as the original equipment glass.
No tint permitted. D: Two steel support bars must be
installed behind windshield, 1inch wide by 1/8th inch
thick.
3-3 REAR WINDOW A: Rear window is optional. B:
Rear window must be installed in original position.
Only clear polycarbonate glass (Lexan, etc.) may be
used in the rear window opening. The polycarbonate
glass must be minimum 1/8th inch thick and formed
to the same shape as the original equipment glass.
No tint permitted. C: The rear window must be
secured with a minimum of two metal straps on the
outside not less than 1 inch wide by 1/8th inch thick,
evenly spaced and bolted to the roof at the top and
the deck support panel at the bottom. The inside of
the rear window must be supported by at least two
(2) metal braces permanently mounted without any
adjustments.
3-4 SIDE WINDOW/WINDOW SCREEN A: All side
window glass must be removed. B: A nylon mesh
screen must be installed in the left side door glass
opening. The window screen must be a rib type
made from 3/4 inch wide, maximum one (1) inch
nylon material with a minimum one (1) inch square
opening between the ribs. The minimum window
screen size shall be 22 inches wide by 16 inches
high. All window screen mounts must be a minimum
1/2 inch steel rod on the bottom and a minimum one
(1) inch wide by 3/16 inch flat steel or a minimum
1/2 inch diameter steel rod on the top with mounts
welded to the roll cage. The window screen, when in
the closed position, must fit tight and be secured with
a quick release type latch at the top in front only.
3-5 HEADLIGHTS/PARKING LIGHTS A: All
headlights, parking lights, turn signals, side marker
lights, etc. must be removed. B: Headlight, parking
light, turn signal, side marker light, etc. openings
must be neatly covered with sheet metal. Sheet
metal covers must be solid, with no holes or openings
drilled or cut in them (except for mounting holes that
are covered by screws or rivets).
3-6 REAR VIEW MIRROR A: Inside rear view mirror
will be required. Stock mirror OK. Wink type three
dimensional mirror allowed with a maximum width of
26 inches. Rear view mirror cannot extend outside
of the car. B: Stock outside rear view mirrors must
be removed.
3-7 DASHBOARD A: All cars must have a complete,
stock dashboard. Fabricated dashboard not allowed.
B: In dash radio and speakers can be removed. All
other components must remain stock.
3-8 FIREWALL A: Front firewall must remain stock
and remain in stock location. Fabricated firewalls not
allowed. B: A rear firewall of not less than 22 gauge
sheet metal must be installed in place of the rear
seat on non-hatchback cars.
3-9 DOORS A: Doors must remain in the stock
position. B: Doors must be welded shut in an
approved manner. C: Doors may only have metal
removed to allow for clearance around the roll cage
door bars.
3-10 FENDERS AND QUARTER PANELS A:
Fenders and quarter panels may not be trimmed
for tire clearance. B: The inner fenders/wheel wells
must remain stock and unaltered.
3-11 GRILLES A: Grilles may be covered with
unpainted screen wire attached to the grille only. B:
Screen wire must be porous. C: Closed grilles will
not be permitted for racing.
3-12 HOOD/ROOF A: Hood must maintain stock
configuration. No removal of metal/lightening
allowed. B: Hood must be mounted to stock hinges.
C: Hood must be held shut by a minimum of two
hood pins. D: Hood Insulation must be removed. E:
Roof must be stock for make and model of car.
3-13 REAR DECK LID A: Rear deck lid must maintain
stock configuration. No removal of metal/lightening
allowed. B: Rear deck lid must be mounted to stock
hinges. C: Rear deck lid must be held shut by a
minimum of two hood pins.
3-14 BUMPERS A: Front and rear bumpers must
be stock, and in the standard location for make and
model of car.
3-15 IDENTIFICATION AND MARKING A: All car
number configuration and design is subject to
approval by Track Officials. Only single or doubledigit
numbers will be permitted. The size, color, and
style of numbers must be adequate to permit prompt
identification by Track Officials at all times. Numbers
at least 18 inches high, excluding borders and
silhouettes, must be neatly attached to or painted
on both sides of the car on the center of the door.
Door numbers must be a minimum of four (4) inches
in width, and slant no more than 30 degrees from
vertical. The tops and bottoms of all numbers must
be even (not staggered). Two (2) digit numbers must
not overlap. A number 24 inches high, excluding
borders and silhouettes, must be neatly attached
to or painted on the roof, reading from the driver’s
side. Block type numbers, as large as possible, must
be attached or painted on the uppermost corner of
the right side windshield and the right rear taillight
cover. The use of number decals is acceptable if
Track Officials determine that the number is legible.
Car weight must be posted on left side of hood,
using 3” high numbers. B: Ace Speedway may
refuse to permit, or require the removal of, decals,
identification, and advertising of any kind on a car for
any reason. Ace Speedway may restrict or assign
the size or placement of decals, identification, and
advertising of any kind on a car for any reason.
4. ENGINE
4-1 ENGINE LOCATION A: Engine must remain in
stock location.
4-2 GENERAL ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS A: Stock
four-cylinder engine only. Engine must remain stock
as delivered by the factory. B: No Cosworth or
rotary engines allowed. No quad-four or four valve
per cylinder engines allowed. No turbo-charged or
supercharged engines allowed. C: All engines must
be used in the model of car for which they were
manufactured. D: No components may be omitted
from the engine compartment (air cleaner, etc.). Only
air conditioning compressor and condenser may be
removed. Alternator must remain as manufactured.
(power steering optional) E: No factory or aftermarket
high performance components will be allowed
in the engine or drive train.
4-3 CARBURETOR/FUEL INJECTION A: Stock
carburetor or fuel infection system for the make and
model car being competed in.
4-4 AIR CLEANER AND AIR FILTER A: Stock
production (or direct replacement type) air filter
element is required. No high performance (K & N
type, etc.) will be allowed. All air shall be filtered
through the air filter element. The air filter element
may not be sprayed with any type of chemicals or
liquids. B: Air filter housing may not be modified in
any way. Non-stock ducting of outside air to the air
filter housing will not be permitted.
4-5 FAN A: Electric cooling fan may be wired to run
constantly.
4-6 RADIATOR A: Only water allowed in the radiator
and cooling system. NO anti-freeze allowed.
4-7 XHAUST SYSTEM A: Complete stock exhaust
system (including correct original equipment muffler
(or mufflers) and catalytic converter) must remain
in place, Or Catalytic converter and muffler may be
removed and replaced with a straight tube of the
same diameter as the inlet and outlet of those items
NO headers, high performance mufflers or exhaust
systems allowed. Exhaust system may exit either
on the left or right hand side underneath the car
behind the driver. The exhaust system may also
exit below the rear bumper at the rear of the car.
5. ELECTRICAL
5-1: Battery must be mounted in the right front floor
and must be completely enclosed in a steel or plastic
battery box with lid.
6. DRIVE TRAIN
6-1: Automatic or manual transmission allowed.
Transmission must be stock for the make and model
car being competed in.
7. SUSPENSION
7-1: Only stock suspension parts allowed. No after
Market or high performance springs allowed.
7-2: Maximum negative camber allowed is 1.5
degree. Rear wheel camber must be the same on
left and right sides.
7-3: Minimum ride height for all cars 5” less driver
8. STEERING COMPONENTS
8-1: Only stock steering components allowed.
8-2: Stock steering column with working stock ignition
switch required. Car must start using stock ignition
switch. Locking mechanism in steering column must
be disabled.
8-3: Stock steering wheel allowed if air bag is
removed.
8-4: Steering wheels may be equipped with a metal
quick release coupling.
9. BRAKES
9-1: Stock brakes in good working order required at
all four wheels. Air ducts are ok.
10. WHEELS
10-1: Stock wheel for the make and model being
competed in are required. All wheels on a car must
be the same size and offset.
11. TIRES
11-1: Passenger car tires only. NO high performance,
low profile, speed rated or soft compound tires
allowed. NO recaps allowed. 60 series maximum width
11-2: All tires on a car must be the same size.
11-3: Ace Speedway reserves the right to disallow
any tire from use in competition in the X-treme car
class.
12. FUEL SYSTEMS
12-1: Fuel cell recommended (8-gallon maximum).
Fuel cell must be covered by 20-gauge sheet metal
on all sides. Top of cover may be hinged for access.
Fuel cell must be secured by 4 metal straps and must
be placed as far forward in the trunk as possible.
12-2: Cars may use stock tank and must run with
less than ½ tank of fuel at all times.
12-3: Ford inertia switch (fuel shut off) may be
removed.
12-4: Fuel injected cars must be equipped with
fuel shut off switch (mercury, oil pressure or toggle
switch).
12-5: Pump gas only (no additives or altered fuel
allowed).
13. SEATS AND SEATBELTS
13-1 SEATS A: All stock seats must be removed.
B: A racing bucket seat with headrest is mandatory.
Seat must be factory manufactured. Seat must be
aluminum, a minimum if 1/8 inch thick. Lightening of
the seat in any way will not be allowed. B: Seat must
be properly mounted to the roll cage and installation
must be acceptable to Track Officials. Seat may not
be mounted to the floorboard. D: Adequate padding
for the seat and headrest is mandatory.
13-2 SEATBELTS A: A quick release belt no less
than 3 inches wide is mandatory. B: Both ends of
lap belt must be fastened to the roll bar cage with
high quality bolts not less than 3/8’s inch in diameter.
C: Shoulder harness must be no less than 3 inches
wide and must come from behind the driver’s seat.
Where the harness crosses the roll cage, it must pass
through a steel guide welded to the roll cage that will
prevent the harness from sliding from side to side.
D: A center (crotch) belt must be securely mounted
to the lower seat frame at the bottom and to the lap
seat belt on the top. E: Where the belts pass through
the seat edges, it must have a grommet installed, be
rolled, and/or padded to prevent cutting of the belt. F:
All seat belts and shoulder harness must connect at
the lap belt with an approved quick release buckle.
G: All belts and window nets must be 5 years or newer.
14. ROLLBARS
14-1: Minimum six point roll cage required. Main roll
cage must be attached (welded) to four ¼ inch by 2
½ inch (minimum) steel plates welded to the interior
floor pan at the frame rails. The same size plate or
greater must be bolted from bottom side of floor pan
with ½” bolts. All roll cages must have
a minimum of 4 left side door bars. All left side door
bars must be curved with the exception of the bottom
door bar which may be straight. All roll cages must
have a minimum of 3 curved right side door bars.
No bars will be allowed to extend through the front
firewall. All roll cages must have 2 rear leg bars that
extend from the back of the main hoop down and
rearward to the rear of the trunk floor. Rear leg bars
must be attached (welded) to ¼ inch by 2 ½ inch
(minimum) steel plates or a horizontal section of roll
bar tubing welded to the interior floor pan. No other
bars will be allowed to extend rearward beyond the
centerline of the rear axle. 16-2: Round magnetic
steel tubing 1-3/4 X .090 inch seamless roll over bars
are required for the roll cage and must be acceptable
to Track Officials. Aluminum and/or other soft metals
are not permitted. 16-3: Roll bar connections must
be welded.
14-2: A magnetic steel plate, 1/8 inch thick must be
installed over the left side door bars and welded or
bolted in place using a minimum of four (4) ½ inch
magnetic steel bolts. The plate must begin in line
with the back edge of the driver’s seat and extend
forward to a minimum of six (6) inches beyond the
front edge of the driver’s seat (not including add-on
leg supports). The plate must extend from the top left
side door bar to the top of the left side rocker panel.
Plating may be installed in sections provided that the
installation leaves no open spaces between the left
side door bars within the coverage area described
above, or between the bottom left side door bar
and the top of the left side rocker panel within the
coverage area described above.
15. FIRE CONTROL
15-1: All cars must have a working onboard fire
extinguisher with gauge (dry powder or Halon).
15-2: Driver must be able to reach fire extinguisher.
15-3: No extinguisher may be taped to the roll bars
or brackets.
15-4: When the car is on the track, it is mandatory
that the driver wear a fire resistant driving suit.
15-5: Fire resistant gloves are recommended.
16. CAR WEIGHT
16-1: Cars will be weighed with driver. Any weight
added to the cars must be equally distributed on the
left and right sides. Excessive sheet metal removal
to achieve your weight is not allowed. The total
weight for the various makes of cars is as follows.
- Buick Skylark 2300 Lbs – Dodge Daytona 2500
Lbs – Dodge Shadow 2500 Lbs – Ford Escort 2350
Lbs – Ford Probe 2600 Lbs – Honda CRX 2100 Lbs
- Honda Prelude 2600 Lbs – Mazda 2300 Lbs -
Pontiac Grand Am 2550 Lbs – VW Rabbit 2100 Lbs
Any Make/Model not listed will be added as needed.
Weights will be adjusted to equalize competition
periodically. 16-2: Weight must be posted on top left door
16-3: 50 pounds added after every 3rd win.

17. TREAD WIDTH
17-1: The maximum Tread Width of any car must be
stock for the make and model of the car.

18. May alter dash for comfort purposes (ie. leg room)
19. Alterations in dash allowed for cross bar of rollcage
20. Tire compound should be same as manufacturer specs (subject to track test)
21. Engine compression reading must not be more than 5% of factory specs
22. Driver eligibility restricted to entry level only – competitors in other divisions not allowed participation
23. Violations will be subject to penalties including forfieture of winnings/ points, suspensions, even banishment
