Ace Speedway in Elon, NC

Ace Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is a 4/10-mile paved oval with 12 degree banking in the corners, located in Alamance County, North Carolina, just off Hwy 87N above Elon University.

Ace Speedway represents the exciting and rich history of stock car racing dating from the 1950’s in Alamance County.

Ace, formerly known as Southern Speedway, is located in Altamahaw. It was constructed in 1956 by Roy Maddren, and operated as a 1/3-mile dirt track until 1984 when it was expanded to 3/8-mile.

In 1990, the track was paved under the ownership of Fred and Jim Turner and became a NASCAR sanctioned Winston Racing Series member track.

In 1999, David Morton became sole owner of Ace and instituted an expansion and renovation project – the biggest change in the track’s history. The track was enlarged to 4/10-mile, the turns were banked to 12 degrees, and the pits were extended. New bleacher boards were also added for the comfort and safety of the fans.

In August of 2006, Abraham Woidislawsky, a former car mechanic turned real estate developer, puchased Ace and began a new era of track improvements designed to attract more fans to the most beautiful short track in the USA. Ace is widely regarded as the premier facility in it’s class.

Today, Ace Speedway is part of the fast growing ASA Member Track program. Our Friday night weekly program features Late Models, Grand American Modifieds, Limited Sportsman, Mini-Stocks, and their X-Treme Car division which is an entry class that is basically a passenger car with a roll cage in it.

Throughout the season they will have exhibition classes like ISCARS Dash Touring Series sanctioned by ASA, Mini-Cups, Flat Head Fords, and Southern Ground Pounders. Touring divisions signed to compete at the track include the UARA late models, PASS Allstars, and Rolling Thunder Modifieds.

The racing season runs from Mar/Apr until Oct, with Go Kart racing and special events running through Dec.
